Ashley Nihem, CSW
Therapist
Ashley Nihem is a compassionate and skilled therapist who works with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, neurodivergence, relationship challenges, adoption-related concerns, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ identity exploration. She believes therapy is not about fixing people, but about walking alongside them with authenticity, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard. Ashley creates a space where clients feel seen as whole human beings—capable of growth, insight, and meaningful change.
Ashley holds a Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayne State University. She is a Certified Social Worker (CSW), a Certified Women’s Mental Health Specialist, and EMDRIA-trained. Her clinical background includes private practice, school-based mental health, trauma-informed youth work, and research experience in violence exposure and interpersonal development.
Her therapeutic approach is eclectic and evidence-based, drawing from EMDR, CBT, DBT, ERP, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, narrative and interpersonal therapies, and client-centered care. Ashley places strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and collaborates closely with clients to tailor treatment to their needs, readiness, and goals. She is also passionate about accessibility and continuity of care, particularly for clients navigating insurance-based services.
Outside of the therapy room, Ashley enjoys being outdoors and values movement as a way to process and regulate—sometimes even offering walk-and-talk sessions when clinically appropriate. She has a creative background in writing and research, and is known for her warmth, humor, and grounded presence..
