Laura Simonson, ACMHC
Therapist
Laura Simonson is an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor who brings more than 30 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families through some of life’s most difficult moments. She creates a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages, and from diverse backgrounds, can feel seen, heard, and deeply understood.
Laura’s clinical interests include trauma recovery, grief and loss, faith transitions, first-responder support, and mental health preparation and recovery surrounding weight-loss surgery. Her decades of work in the criminal justice and family court systems, as well as her experience as a civilian first responder and victim advocate, give her a uniquely informed and compassionate lens in working with trauma related to domestic violence, assault, substance use, crisis exposure, and family dysfunction.
Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based care, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed practices, stress-management skills, multicultural competence, and strengths-based counseling. Laura’s goal is to help clients build safety, connection, and emotional resilience so that meaningful and lasting change can take root.
Laura earned her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling professionals. She is known for her empathy, steadiness, and ability to make clients feel deeply supported as they navigate healing, identity, and personal transformation.
