Leslie Merrick, LCSW
Therapist
Leslie Merrick is an experienced therapist who believes people are doing the best they can with the knowledge and tools they have at any given moment. Rather than dwelling on what someone “should” have done differently, Leslie helps clients recognize their strengths, better understand themselves, and discover new ways to move forward. She creates a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard while empowering them to make choices that reflect the life they want to live.
With more than a decade of clinical experience, Leslie specializes in working with adults navigating addiction and substance use, domestic violence, grief and loss, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and major life and faith transitions. Her trauma-informed approach considers the connection between mind and body and how difficult experiences can affect emotions, relationships, and decision-making. Leslie draws from evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, Family Systems, and other strengths-based and person-centered approaches.
Leslie believes her role is not to tell clients what they should do, but to listen, offer guidance, and help them arrive at their own insights. She finds it rewarding to witness those “a-ha” moments when clients recognize their own strengths, gain clarity, and feel empowered to take the next step forward.
